International students

International students are usually enrolled as exchange students, although some well funded schools will accept them as a regular student. Many of the international students study abroad mainly with the aim of foreign language study, while others do so for advance specialized studies. Many people consider having a good degree from another country as quite a prestigious achievement and in fact they do learn a great deal by studying in an environment thatís a completely new experience for them.

Not all international students find foreign language study easy. Some of the early difficulties that they tend to face are; the language barriers, time differences, cultural differences, differences of study schedule etc. Also in some countries, it's well known that an international student is forced to pay higher tuition fees than citizens of the country however students†are exempted from paying the taxes of the country. In fact many international exchange students come back to the foreign country where they had pursued their studies.

One common trend also noticed regarding international students is the way the students choose their destination according to their countryís preference or the ones that their country is aligned with. These days, several prominent colleges and universities have come up with study abroad programs which cater to the needs of international students, especially in some fields where they could learn a great deal. Along with that came an increase in the number of international student scholarships available from both the home country and the host country. As well as a rise in the amount of private companies making international student loans. Its now much easier for international exchange students to get seats as a regular student or a study abroad student.

As a matter of fact, we find that many universities with a large number of certain ethnic groups actually have societies for these international student groups who are an important part of the university community. As such they sort of provide an important social network especially for new international students who may find it hard to interact with others.
